Brian A. Conteh is a Sierra Leonean actor born in the vibrant Congo Market community in Freetown, Western Area, SierraLeone. His passion for the arts emerged early, performing as part of the dance group “The New Edition” in Bombay Street, Big Yard, in eastern Freetown.

Brian began his education at the Sierra Leone Muslim Brotherhood Primary School and continued his secondary studies at Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School. Alongside his schooling, he honed his skills as a tailor, demonstrating ambition and a drive for a better future from a young age.
After completing his O’ Levels, Brian traveled to the Republic of Guinea to visit his late aunt, where he embraced breakdancing. Upon returning to Freetown, he joined another dance troupe, “The Stylistic Dancers.” Financial hardships prevented him from advancing to sixth form. Raised by a single mother who sold broken coconuts and traditional medicines to support him and his sister, Brian often helped in the market. He later worked for Korean fishing companies in the deep seas for over three years, fighting to make ends meet for himself, his sister and his mother.

Despite many challenges, Brian seized an opportunity to travel to the United States as a coach-player for the Sierra Leone basketball team. After the competition, he settled in Maryland with his elder sister before relocating to Virginia. In Virginia, he met Pastor David Buake Vandy, a legendary Sierra Leonean entertainer, who introduced him to theatrical arts. Brian began performing on prestigious stages, including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Lee Center in Virginia, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C.
With his natural adaptability, Brian transitioned from stage to screen, quickly making a name for himself in the African film industry with notable projects across Nigeria, Senegal, and Mexico. His first leading role in Mexico earned him the Best Actor Award, a major milestone that cemented his reputation as a dynamic and powerful performer.
Brian’s breakthrough into Hollywood came with a memorable role in The Walking Dead, portraying a college professor turned zombie. This pivotal performance launched his Hollywood career, leading to collaborations with some of the industry’s biggest stars. He appeared alongside Chris Rock and Coleman Domingo in Rustin, and showcased his versatility in Lioness, sharing the screen with Morgan Freeman, Zoe Saldana, and Nicole Kidman.
His impressive portfolio includes working with Adam Sandler in the sports drama Hustle, bringing intensity to Mayor of Kingstown alongside Jeremy Renner, and starring in Megalopolis with Shia LaBeouf, Laurence Fishburne, and Adam Driver. Brian also captivated audiences in Ghosted alongside Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, delivered a powerful performance in Dopesick with Michael Keaton, and portrayed a memorable role in American Rust opposite Jeff Daniels.
Brian Conteh’s journey is a powerful testament to resilience, discipline, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Each role he takes on is marked by authenticity, depth, and a unique storytelling perspective that resonates globally. His commitment to his craft has not only earned him industry respect but has also inspired countless aspiring actors around the world.
As he continues to blaze trails and break barriers, Brian remains a beacon of hope, proving that with faith, hard work, and resilience, dreams can indeed become reality.
