CAF President congratulates Babadi Kamara on SLFA Presidency

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, has officially congratulated Mr. BabadiKamara following his election as President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).

In a formal letter sent to the SLFA, Dr. Motsepe expressed his warm congratulations and extended best wishes to Mr. Kamara as he takes on the leadership of the country’s football governing body.

Babadi, who is also the Chairman of Bo Ranger Football Club, won the presidency during elections held on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, at the Gateway Hotel in Lungi. Kamara received 43 votes, whiles, Alhaji Umaru Bah and AminataBangura, received 1 and 11 votes.

The SLFA, in a statement released to the public, welcomed the gesture, noting the significance of support from CAF’s highest office. The Association described the message as an affirmation of CAF’s continued commitment to strengthening football governance and development across Africa.

Kamara’s election comes at a pivotal moment for Sierra Leonean football, with growing expectations around reforms, grassroots development, and improved national team performance. His new role places him at the center of regional and international football affairs, including working closely with CAF and FIFA.

Observers within the football community view the acknowledgement from CAF as both a diplomatic and strategic endorsement that reflects the importance of unity within the continental football family.
