The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has commenced the installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in strategic locations across the Provincial Headquarters, starting with Bo City in the Southern Region. This initiative, spearheaded by Inspector General of Police (IGP), William Fayia Sellu, aims to enhance policing, combat crime, and build trust between the police and the community.

The installation of CCTV cameras in Bo City, including the Bo Government Hospital, is part of the SLP’s efforts to leverage technology in policing. This move follows the successful installation of CCTV cameras in Freetown, and is expected to improve police visibility and effectiveness in crime prevention and investigation.

IGP Sellu’s determination to transform the SLP from a force to a service-driven institution is evident in his efforts to adopt modern policing strategies. Since assuming leadership, he has undertaken several reforms to position the police on a trajectory of excellence.

IGP Fayia Sellu plans to extend the installation of CCTV cameras to all regional police headquarters towns, further enhancing police visibility and community trust. This initiative underscores the police chief’s commitment to harnessing technology to improve policing and serve the public.
