Sierra Leone’s Director of the Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has acknowledged efforts made by the Directorate and the Ministry of Health and Sanitation.

In a joint launching introduced the significance of the Kombra App. A technology that is determined to prevent zero maternal deaths in Sierra Leone by 2038. The application will ensure risks and identified, and referrals are made on time. While expert opinion see this target as an ambiguous goal, it is realistic to trust in the power of innovation to facilitating development policies with practicable outcomes.

Dr. Sengeh expressed the potency of this application to improving access, enhancing affordability, and driving maternal deaths to a zero landmark.

In the last five years, we have collaborated closely with the Ministry of Health, on the process of introducing smart technology that will digitalise the operational standards of the ministry. Health is a basic necessity in the human capital index, it is critical as a state to introduce reforms that will boost the capacity of the health sector, and prosper the lives of citizens through technology and innovation. He noted, underscoring the dangers of Maternity, and appreciating this application as a crucial remedy.

Technology is the vehicle that is driving the development narrative of the Big Five Changers. These policies are positively charged with presidential support and citizens’ compliance. The introduction of this application is a forensic approval of this narrative. Referrals will be made with just a click of the fingertip. Risks will be reduced, drastically, to one percent, making maternal deaths a complete novelty.

“On behalf of the government of Sierra Leone, through the Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation, and the Ministry of Health, I hereby officially launch the Kombra Application,” he unveiled, concluding on how efforts are underway to intensify awareness raising to citizens.
