Chief Minister concludes successful visit to Dubai

Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has concluded his visit to Dubai, United Arab Emirates after a successful participation at this year’s World Governments Summit.

Here are few highlights of Dr. Sengeh’s engagements in the Gulf-state:

•​Dr. Sengeh delivered an address at the opening session of the Summit where he proposed an urgent need for Africa to adopt radically new solutions to boost inclusive growth and development. Speaking on the theme: “New Economic Revolution: An African Perspective”, Dr. Sengeh also advocated for institutional reforms and radical social-democratic solutions that would work for everyone. He was joined by other distinguished Africans, including Dr. Akinwuni Adesina and Tony Elumelu.

•​Dr. Sengeh also delivered the opening address at the ‘Future for Education Forum’, calling on global leaders to take tangible actions and providing the requisite financing to support quality and inclusive education. He later participated at the ‘Future on Education Roundtable’, a high-level gathering of education ministers and top executives across the world. He spoke about President Dr. Julius Maada Bio’s passion for and commitment to affordable and accessible education for all Sierra Leoneans.

•​On the margins of the Summit, the Chief Minister also engaged the leadership of Elcome LLC, a technology provider where he advocated for the monetization of social media contents in Sierra Leone that would provide financial rewards for content creators. He also discussed President Bio’s ongoing digital transformation drive. 

•​Dr. Sengeh again met with former Dutch footballer, Edgar Davids. They spoke on sports and arts developments in Sierra Leone. They agreed that the former Ajax, Barcelona and AC Milan midfielder would visit Sierra Leone soon to explore opportunities for homegrown talents. 

•​Dr. Sengeh further visited the leadership of DMCC to speak about the mining sector and other possible areas of investments. He later visited the DMCC Coffee processing factory highlighting the need for similar facilities in Sierra Leone to support value addition and boost local production.

•Chief Minister held series of other bilateral meetings with key UAE authorities focusing on strengthening the relations between the UAE and Sierra Leone. He also met with Tony Blair, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
