Chief Minister in Dubai for World Governments Summit

Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has safely arrived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, UAE, to attend the World Governments Summit.

Dr. Sengeh is leading Sierra Leone’s delegation to this year’s three-day Summit scheduled for 11th- 13th February 2025.

The Summit, according to the organizers, “will bring together governments, international organizations, thought leaders, and private sector leaders from around the globe to foster international cooperation and identify innovative solutions for future challenges, ultimately inspiring and empowering the next generation of governments.”

Dr. Sengeh will participate and deliver an address at the main plenary of the Summit on the topic: “New Economic Revolution: An African Perspective”, featuring alongside distinguished panelists including the President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina and Founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, Tony Elumelu.

Dr. Sengeh, who doubles as Sierra Leone’s Chief Innovation Officer, will chair and address a roundtable forum on “The Future of Education”, where he is expected to discuss the successes of His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio’s Free Education programme and the ongoing digital transformation in Sierra Leone. 

On the margins of the Summit, he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with high-level UAE government officials to discuss relations between Sierra Leone and the Arab-state. He will also meet business and other government leaders to channel investments and opportunities to Sierra Leone.

Other notable speakers, expected to address this year’s Summit, include President of Poland, H.E Andrzej Duda; President of Madagascar, H.E Andry Rajoelina; President of Colombia, H.E Gustavo Petro; President of Indonesia, Hon. Prabowo Subianto and Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, H.E Kristalina Georgieva. 

Dr. David Sengeh has become a member on the list of prominent regular invitees to the World Governments Summit. It could be noted that as Sierra Leone’s Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education in 2023, Dr. Sengeh was awarded at the Summit as the Best Minister in the World, having been voted by a team of global experts.

On his delegation are the Minister of Communication, Technology and Innovation and the Deputy Minister of Finance. The delegation was warmly received and welcomed by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the UAE, Rashid Sesay.
