Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh over the weekend took his ‘Governance to the People’ campaign’ to Tonkolili.

Accompanied by three ministers and several heads of agencies and relevant departments, the campaign aims to supervise various government and development partner projects, visit private sector partners, listen to and learn from citizens and see, touch, feel and experience what they go through on a regular basis.

Dr. Sengeh said: “A core value behind our engagement is the principle of radical inclusion. We reached the hardest to reach and most remote areas, listened to those most marginalised, and take action to immediately correct any injustices we see”.

He said at Mile 91, they engaged Miro Forestry – a leading private sector company – to understand their business and their interaction with the community. They also met with the Central University community and with ordinary citizens during a public lecture and a town hall, respectively.

In addition, the team also visited two agencies of the Ministry of Agriculture, engaging with staff members and researchers and took notes of what they could not resolve even as they addressed all other issues in real time.
