The project which will take place in 72 communities for one-year aimed at strengthening and empowered women to be inclusive in national and community development according to goals of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Giving his presentation Project Manager of CODOHSAPA Samuel Sheka Sesay asserted that the main focus of the project is to strengthen women, adding stressing that they are trying to give voice to people leaving in slum communities, mostly women.

The objective of the project, according to Sesay strengthened the capacity of slum dwellers in order to drive their own development agenda in the two settlements in Freetown.

“The project also seeks to increase capacity of 250 marginalized slum dwellers in the two slum settlements” Sesay said. He added that the residents in the slum communities should drive their own development agenda through the provision of life skill training in 12 months.

Mr. Sesay further said that the project will also enhance inclusive participation of 250 marginalized slum dwellers in local governance and decision making processes in two slum communities for sustainable community development and transformation.

Mr. Sesay went on to say the two slum settlements will serve as epicenters from where they will be able to reach out to the other communities within the two wards.

Mr. Sesay maintained that the project will be targeting the direct participation of 250 slum dwellers and approximately 5,000 of which 1,500 will male and 3,500 females.

Launching the project in the capacity of the Mayor Environmental Management Committee chairman Freetown City Council, Councilor Murray Alie Conteh urged the slum dwellers should embrace the opportunity as a golden thing to benefits their communities.

Jalikatu Jalloh Senior Program Officer Sabi in her statement said that their vision is to ensure that all marginalized slum dwellers have equal to resources and services in the country.
