The Western Area Rural District Council (WARD-C), under the leadership of Chairman Kasho J. Holland-Cole and Chief Administrator Festus Kallay, has officially commenced work on the long-awaited road construction at #2 River Beach.

Councillor Zackariah Kanneh, Chairman of the Works and Infrastructure Committee in WARD-C said the project, which began following the official launch on March 11, 2025, is a direct response to the felt needs of the community and a testament to the council’s commitment to infrastructural development.

He said Chairman Holland-Cole has remained steadfast in hisdedication to improving the lives of residents across the district, adding that through collaborative efforts with the #2 River Village Management Committee, the council ensured that internally generated funds from gate collections were properly managed and reinvested into this crucial project.

The contracted Demco Construction Company has now mobilised its workforce, and visible progress is being made.

Councillor Zackariah Kanneh said: “In the spirit of transparency and accountability, Chairman Holland-Cole reaffirmed that every revenue generated at #2 River Beach is being channelled into development projects, including plans for a car wash, parking space, and solar lighting. These initiatives aim to create job opportunities and enhance the tourism potential of the area”.

He urged community members to cooperate with the contractors and maintain a clean and orderly environment to facilitate development, assuring that WARDC remains committed to fostering growth and development in all communities within the district.
