Speaking at a press conference yesterday at NCRA conference hall, Walpole Street in Freetown, DG Mohamed Mubashir Massaquoi said: “The successful outcome of this exercise will clean the Government Payroll, reduce wastages and invariably improve service delivery to the people of this country.”

Reading from a prepared statement, DG Mohamed Mubashir Massaquoi went on to say that as a way of improving effective information transformation to the public, a media mix, including the production of jingles in major languages, has been deployed. These jingles with messages on the processes and procedures for the exercise, are now being aired by all community radio stations with wider coverage, and shared on social media platforms.

He went on to state that the NCRA as a government institution has forged a partnership with the Ministry of Information and Communication to serve as auxiliary in the information dissemination channel.

“In order to further enhance transparency and improve credibility of the process, some institutions such as Statistics Sierra Leone, the National Electoral Commission and some civil society organizations have been solicited to undertake an independent monitoring of the exercise. This drive is intended to ensure compliance and quality control of the procedures and strict adherence to the rules and regulations guiding the process in order to get a successful outcome,” the DG explained to a galaxy of journalists drawn from the print and electronic media.

He used the opportunity to urge members of the general public to support the process, adding that after this exercise the NCRA would embark on registering and updating the status and number of civilians.
