He informed the Chief Justice that members of the Association have been very active and punctual in reporting various proceedings in the lower and high courts within the jurisdiction of Sierra Leone.

The President of the Sierra Leone Reporters Association assured the leadership of the Sierra Leone Judiciary of his Association’s avowed posture to continue reporting court proceedings with maturity and professionalism, while appealing to the Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Desmond Batatunde Edwards to assist the Association with training facilities and other technical support in the area of professional court reporting.

Responding the Chief Justice assured members of the association of his institution’s support in the area of brightening the horizons of journalists covering court proceedings.

He made it very clear that in the not-too-distant future, the court would consider accommodating at least fifteen journalists to cover court proceedings, and that the court would distribute accreditation to journalists who are daily covering court proceedings.

The Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Desmond Babatunde Edwards observed that journalists covering court proceedings are finding it very difficult to cover civil more than criminal matters, but that under his leadership the court would look into the Association’s concerns with all the seriousness it deserves.
