Creating platform for local acts to go international: Ghana’s Gyakie, Nigeria’s Chike, Others to grace ECOFEST

Popular entertainment executive, Abu Bakar Turay aka The Kabaka, doubling as former Chief Executive Officer of ECOFEST has revealed that this year’s event will be graced by Jackline Acheampong, known professionally as Gyakie from Ghana and Chike Ezekpeazu Osebuka, popularly known as Chike from Nigeria among other acts. He said ECOFEST platform creates the opportunity for local acts to be known internationally.

He said ECOFEST is Sierra Leone’s biggest arts and entertainment festivals, bring ECOFEST – the Illumination 2024 to the world on December 20 and 21,2024.

Kabaka said said: “ECOFEST serves not only as a focal point for cultural exchange across the African continent but also as a beacon of unity, showcasing the uniqueness and talent that makes our nation exceptional”.

This years ECOFEST he said will feature acts from over seven countries in Africa including SIerra Leone and that it would be held at the Africell Building Beach-Front, Bendu’s Drive (by Atlantic Beach) Lumley. ECOFEST is short for ‘ECOWAS Music Festival’, a regular appointment in the Sierra Leone festival scene that sees the participation of musician, dancers and performers from all over West Africa.

It is primarily a music festival, aiming to offer a platform to musicians of ECOWAS countries to come together and celebrate West African music and culture. Internationally acclaimed and emerging artists come together during this annual festival, making it the largest music festival in West Africa.
