He reiterated his determination to root out corruption in his government, stressing that there will be no impunity for anyone involved in such malfeasance.

He told high-ranking government officials at the just-concluded cabinet retreat in Freetown that he would have no mercy on even members of his government who are found wanting for corruption.

It’s the second cabinet retreat since the new government was installed in April 2018 and the first in 2019.

State House sources say the meeting was designed to foster amicable and collaborative working relationship between and among all MDAs.

It could be recalled that the first cabinet retreat held in June last year revealed, among other things, the absence of team work, little or no periodic assessment and professionalism in the system.

President Bio, in his statement, added that personality differences, coupled with a culture of indiscipline, were also contributing to holding back progress in service delivery.

The president also stressed on the need for punctuality at work, noting that it is not an option but a requirement for every public official.

“Good public officials have no reason to fear Commissions of Enquiry. These Commissions of enquiry are not just meant to identify what was stolen, they are meant also, and more importantly so, to identify how processes were gotten wrong. It will help to ensure real change,” the President said.

The retreat was on the theme: ‘Strengthening Political and Administrative Relations for Effective Service Delivery.
