According to her, she never knew that the deceased was lying dead in the said latrine pit and recalled that the deceased was missing on 26 of March 2016, and after that some relatives including the deceased wife, reported to the police about the incident, visited various hospitals in various part Freetown, and even made an announcement of the popular We Yus programme, on the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation television.
She also responded that the deceased was later found dead in the said latrine pit on 11 April 2016, and never attempted to commit any suicide prior to his untimely death, adding that the deceased was ill disposed for some time, but that the family members never consulted a native doctor to treat him.
The witness maintained that when the police searched the first accused, Demoh Bangura’s apartment at the same address, following the alleged brutal murder of Patrick Bangura alias junior, police discovered five empty sacks with bold stain, kerosene rubber and chlorine in the first accused freezer.
She made it crystal clear that the deceased was found dead in the said latrine pit, by the deceased mother in law, who had traveled from Masiaka in the north of Sierra Leone, to sympathize with her daughter.
The deceased mother in law, the witness said was using the said latrine pit in the early hours of 11 April 2016, when she saw a strange object down the pit, and immediately alerted her daughter and tenants, who wasted no time to contact officers at the Congo Cross Police Station in Freetown.
The first prosecution witness further stated that the deceased was constructing a two story building inside the same compound at N0.7k Upper Tengbeh Town, where the alleged murder occurred, and furthered that since the deceased started constructing the two story building, he never enjoyed peace, as the first accused, Demoh and her husband, Shollay Val Renner, who is the second accused were constantly using all sorts of threatening remarks against the deceased.
Concluding, the witness Safiatu Bangura intimated the court that it was the deceased, the first accused and the other step sisters that handed over the title deed of the said house to the third accused person, David Sesay for safe keeping, and the deceased was pump attendant at the NP filling station along Congo cross in Freetown, and also used to take great care of her and the other step sisters.
The three accused, Demoh Bangura, Shollay Val Renner and David Sesay were charged with the offence of conspiracy to commit murder and murder contrary to law, and the particulars of the offence stated that all three accused persons allegedly conspired with other persons unknown to murder and dumped Patrick Bangura remains in a local latrine pit, at N0.7k Upper Tengbeh town on the 26 March 2016.
