Sierra Leone’s Deputy Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, with accreditations to Luxembourg, Netherlands, Greece, the Vatican, and the European Union, Asmaa James has welcomed her new boss, Ambassador Philip Bob Jusu.

Welcoming the newly appointed Ambassador at the Brussels Zaventem airport, Madam James said she was delighted to receive His Excellency Ambassador Bob Jusu in Brussels to commence his assignment for the President and People of Sierra Leone.

Ambassador Jusu who is succeeding Ambassador TambaMusa, who completed his tenure in November 2024, took formal leave of President Julius Maada Bio to commence his tour of duty.

Ambassador Jusu brings a wealth of experience in multilateral, economic, and technology diplomacy, acquired through his previous roles at the United Nations, the African Union (AU), and Google. Notably, he served for eleven years at the AU, including six as Principal Advisor to the Permanent Representative and the Group of African Ambassadors at the AU Mission to the EU in Brussels, providing strategic guidance on socio-economic issues.

Ambassador Jusu thanked President Bio, stating that it is an honour for him to be appointed as Ambassador to Brussels.

“I pledge to serve our nation with utmost dedication, to strengthen our ties with the EU, and to advance our shared interests. I will carry your vision and the aspirations of our people with me as I embark on this important mission,” the Sierra Leone Ambassador to Belgium said.

“Sierra Leone is open for business, and I have no doubt that each of you will work diligently to strengthen our diplomatic and economic ties with your host nations,” President Bio said. “You have my full support during your tenure.”
