As the holy month of Ramadan unfolds, communities and charitable organizations have stepped forward to support those in need by distributing special iftar gift packages. The initiative aims to ensure that struggling families and individuals can break their fast with dignity and joy.

Direct Aid Centre Director, Makeni- Nageeb Algabawi, said they have reached out to various cities and towns across Sierra Leone to distribute iftar packages filled with rice, sugar, vegetable oil, and other essentials.

He confirmed that 800 beneficiaries were targeted in Makeni Centre alone.

Nageeb further said that the distribution exercise will continue throughout Ramadan, especially in the last ten days, wherein “Zakatu Fitr” will also be distributed to less privileged.

As Ramadan continues, the centre director added that such acts of kindness reflect the true spirit of the season—compassion, unity, and giving.

Regent Chief of Bai Sebora chiefdom, Chief Foday Conteh appreciated the kind gesture of Direct Aid to the people of Bombali district and Sierra Leone at large.

He added that, the iftar gifts are a way to bring happiness and relief to those who are struggling during this holy month.

Recipients of the iftar packages have expressed immense gratitude, with many saying the support has eased their burdens.

“This kindness means so much to my family. It reminds us that we are not alone,” shared Aminata, a widow and mother of three at Makama community.
