Dpt. Information Minister Excels in ITU Confab

The Deputy Information Minister explained that Sierra Leone made representation at the forum in two segments. The first segment was led by the Minister of Information and Communication Mohamed Swaray accompanied by Hon. Mathew Nyuma (Parliamentary Oversight Committee Chair) and Hon. I.B Kargbo.

This final leg of the three weeks’ summit was led by the Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Solomon Jamiru, accompanied by Daniel Kaitibi the Deputy Director General NATCOM, Daniel Sellu (SALCAB Deputy MD), Alimamy Momodu (SALCAB), and Mrs. Hannah Bangura (NATCOM Business Development Manager).

“Sierra Leone’s telecoms and ICT systems are evolving, with promises of huge potential for growth within the context of the New Direction’s vision of making ICT the key driver of productivity. The ITU has a major role to play,” he said, adding that, the next critical steps are formulated to ensure that telecoms and ICT assume a growth trajectory with international best practice.

The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) is like the UN. It is the highest decision-making body on global telecom affairs, and every 4 years, the ITU convenes a summit to review and adopt key resolutions for the next four years.
