Dr. Christiana Thorpe motivates girls

Share

“Most of the girls in the community where I grew up where not attending school and by the time I was in form two most of them have given birth and I was using my allowance to support some of them.” Dr. Thorpe added.

Dr. Thorpe said her passion for teaching started when she was attending school. She said she was organizing classes for her mates. She mentioned that it takes hard work for one to achieve all what she had achieved in life.  She encouraged deprived girls from the slum communities to be steadfast, while citing herself as an example.

She ascertained that “learning something, best fit yourself in the society, be empowered with education, girls that is the only way, the men of today will forever attracted to you and most of the men now are not reliable.”

Dr. Thorpe maintained that it was because of education that she had been appointed to numerous positions and not considered as one that hailed from the slum community, as she encouraged the young girls to concentrate, focused and dedicated to their academic work, in order to be a replica of her or even gained more clout than her.

Her story motivated lots of young girls that attended the conversation most especially those from Kroo Bay Community. Hundreds of women were there to witness the life story of Dr. Christiana Thorpe.
