All People’s Congress (APC) Party’s 2023 Presidential Candidate, Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara has visited the scene of a collapsed seven-storey building on Bai Bureh Road, Shell New Road in Freetown and sympathised with survivors and relatives of victims.
During his visit, Dr. Samura Kamara toured the scene, met with rescue teams and expressed his condolences to the families who tragically lost their loved ones, describing the incident as deeply unfortunate.
He met with staff of the National Disaster Management Agency at the scene and thanked them for their exceptional leadership in managing recent building collapses across the city.
Reports say Dr. Samura Kamara’s visit at the scene has nothing to do with party politics but that he went there on his own like any meaningful Sierra Leonean to sympathise.
At the end of Day 7 on the search and rescue mission from the collapsed building, 24 people have been removed from the rubble.
Fatality rate now stands at 16, whiles survivors rate now stands at 8.
5 survivors previously receiving treatment at Rokupa Hospital have been discharged and 3 still receiving care at Choithram Hospital.
The rescue team today recovered the body of the 4-year-old child, previously reported missing by his father.
Sierra Leone’s National Disaster Management Agency says they reasonably believe that no individuals remain trapped at this time.
