“I want to thank the staff of the agency for complying with these acts because this enhances probity in the agency’s work and it is in line with the government’s fight against corruption,” Dr. Jaward said.

The Integrity Pledge is part of a transparency program that the ACC instituted in collaboration with the EPA since 2014. The program is part of the commission’s mechanism to improve transparency, tackle corruption and ensure professionalism within government agencies, ministries and departments.

The Deputy Commissioner of the ACC, Sholay Davies appreciated EPA’s commitment in the fight against corruption so far.

“We are pleased to note that the EPA is the only institution which invited the ACC to institute an internal mechanism. It is a challenge with most other institutions, with some of them jittery when we approach them,” Sholay Davies said.

He called on other agencies to replicate the EPA, adding that everyone is responsible for the state of corruption in the country.

However, he went on to make the following commitment in the ACC’s fight against corruption: “Integrity is consistency in doing things that are right. On behalf of the ACC, we are committed to promoting professional standard, integrity and ending corruption,”

A staff of the agency Lovetta Juana said the pledge will increase awareness on professionalism in the work place. EPA officials on the other hand say the pledge will be cascaded down to other departments in the agency.
