A delegation from Roche, a multinational healthcare company, visited the Goderich office of Sierra Leone’s Dr. Fatima Maada Bio to present their proposal for establishing a comprehensive breast cancer center. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Health 2, Dr. Jalikatu Mustapha.

The focal point of the discussion was the roadmap for creating the Breast Cancer Centre within the state-of-the-art 600-bed hospital at 34 Military Hospital in Freetown. This vital project is spearheaded under the leadership of Sierra Leone’s First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio.

Her Excellency warmly welcomed the Roche delegation, emphasising her unwavering commitment to healthcare development in the country. “This represents a significant opportunity,” she stated. “My goal is to ensure that our citizens no longer need to seek cancer treatment abroad, particularly those who face financial constraints.” She also highlighted the Office of the First Lady’s support in training 42 nurses and doctors, bolstering the nation’s healthcare capacity.

Roche, renowned for its contributions to oncology, specializes in the development and manufacturing of prescription drugs and diagnostic tools. Their innovative treatments have made a substantial impact in the fight against cancer worldwide.
