Police Witness, Inspector Samuel Samura who identified himself as a police in charge of Safe Handling of exhibit said on the 15th September, 2014, he was on duty when DPC 9920 Kargbo .M brought in one alleged stolen iPod for registration.

“I registered it as 134/14 and I took custody of the item. I therefore tender this exhibit before the court, “Inspector Samura maintained.

The complainant, Dr.Soccoh Kabia indentified the exhibit (iPod) as his property. He maintained that the said property’s serial number marched the serial number of the receipt of the missing iPod.

In cross examination on the exhibit tendered before the court, the Defense Council, Lawyer  E.T Koroma alleged that no further investigation was made by the police after they received the alleged stolen iPod of Dr. Kabia.

When asked if he was the one who wrote the serial number of the stolen iPod, Dr. Kabia said no, he read the serial number from his receipt and the police wrote down the serial number.

“I was unable to access my iPod today in court but previously I was able to access it while in police custody,” Dr. Kabia explained.

In his ruling, Magistrate Kamanda maintained that bail would not be granted to the accused person unless they produce the one who sold the stolen item to the accused before the court and that the police investigator in charge of the matter should be in court in the next appearance.

Meanwhile, the matter is being adjourned to Monday, 6th October, 2014.
