The leaderships of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) Party have hosted the new British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Her Excellency Josephine Gauld.
On her X, Her Excellency Gauld said: “Happy to meet with the leadership of both the APC and the SLPP. Looking forward to working with both parties and other political players for the good of Mama Salone”.
In another development, Her Excellency Gauld welcomed a United Kingdom’s Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessel, RFA Lyme Bay, docked in Freetown, which arrived in Sierra Leone on November 11, 2024, as part of a tour of West African coastal nations.
The ship docked in Freetown as part of a regional Defence Engagement tour, marking a significant step in enhancing maritime security across West Africa.
This visit is part of a Defence Engagement tour that includes stops in Nigeria, Ghana, and Senegal, aimed at bolstering regional partnerships in maritime defense.
British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Josephine Gauld said: “This visit underscores the strong and enduring partnership between the UK and Sierra Leone. It will help strengthen our collective efforts to maintain regional stability”.
The tour aligns with the recently established UK-Nigeria Security and Defence Partnership and is organised in collaboration with the British High Commission and Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Defence.
