Friendly Country” – Ambassador Mohammed Barrie tells Governor of Riyadh

Republic of Sierra Leone to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Mohammed S. Barrie has told the Governor of Riyadh Region, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz that Sierra Leone is an Investment and Business-Friendly Country.

Ambassador Barrie commended the Governor for the warm welcome accorded to him and his team and conveyed kind sentiments from His Excellency the President, Dr. Julius Maada Bio, the Government and People of Sierra Leone.

Presenting a symbolic plaque of the map of Sierra Leone and a traditional Royal Sierra Leonean attire (country cloth , with a hat and scarf carrying the national colors of Sierra Leone), on behalf of His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio to the Governor, Ambassador Barrie said “Your Royal Highness, Sierra Leone has been a diplomatic partner with the Kingdom since 1979, but today, I am bringing Sierra Leone into your capable hands with this symbol, for adoption by the Kingdom for a stronger partnership in the areas of Agriculture, Energy, Mining and human development.”

Ambassador Barrie reiterated that he was making the presentation on behalf President Bio; a dynamic visionary leader who also hales from Traditional Royalty. Ambassador Barrie then extended an invitation to the Governor to visit Sierra Leone, as well as requested from the latter as Royal Highness and father of the Kingdom’s capital to help facilitate the State Visit of His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio to the Kingdom.

The top envoy defined Sierra Leone as a peaceful, friendly country that is open to trade and investment endowed with approximately 5.4 million hectares of arable land, and one that is rich in natural resources.

In his response, Governor Prince Faisal bin Bandar, commended Ambassador Barrie for his visit and good gesture of the precious gifts, describing them as lovely. The Governor graciously accepted Ambassador Barrie’s invitation to visit Sierra Leone and pledged his region’s commitment towards an effective corporation and collaboration on mutual interest for the two countries.

“Your Excellency, once again I thank you for the visit and my office is open to you always to support your mission,” the Governor assured.

Ambassador Barrie was accompanied by the Head of Chancery, Alhaji Ahmed Tejan Kabba, Counsellor Mohamed Victor Kamara, the First Secretary, Mamodu Bai Sesay and the Information Attaché, Abubakarr Bah.
