Dr. Jalloh further said: “After a well-attended funeral prayer was performed for the late man after the mid-day prayers (Dhuhr) at the Masjid Al- Haram, he was escorted to the ‘Mu’allaah’ Cemetery, (closed to the sacred Mosque) for final rest where we gave him a befitting and a memorable burial.”

The late Alhaji Almamy Abubakar Leigh and two of his colleagues and brothers, the newly appointed Acting Fullah Tribal Head, Western Area, Alhaji Mohamed Sajor Jalloh (Med Saj) and Freetown based – businessman, Alhaji Tuppeh arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Monday, May 20, 2019 to perform Umrah (lesser pilgrimage). The late man died in the early hours of last Friday, May 31st, 2019 after a brief illness (11 days after their arrival).

Alhaji Almamy Leigh was officially appointed Fullah Tribal Head, Falaba District last September by His Excellency, President Julius Maada Bio. He was a friendly, humane, gentle, good mannered, forthright, understanding, amiable, humble, peace promoter and a philanthropist. His sincerity, frankness and fearlessness in telling the truth to his compatriots, was second to none. He was a detribalized man; he never reduced himself to ethnic or tribal sentiments. He died in his early 60’s. He is survived by his wife, Haja Zainab and children.

As people belonging to the Islamic faith, Alhaji Leigh’s family and friends should muster courage knowing very well that no one can surpass the appointed time when it is up. Undoubtedly, Alhaji Leigh shall be missed not only by his immediate and large family, but he shall also be painfully missed by the Fullah community and the nation at large. I beseech the Almighty Allah the Most High to condone his sins and make paradise his eternal abode.
