His first assignment will be an away game against neighbouring Liberia on September 4th in the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Sella’s appointment has been received with mixed feelings following information of the insistence of the Ministry of Sports that the Football Association should hire a local coach with John Keister as a possible option.

Keister who played for Leone Stars returned from London to manage Johanssen Football Club owned by President of the Sierra Leone Football Association, Isha Johanssen.

John who also managed Leone Stars around 2017 and worked with Sellas as an assistant had a fallout with Isha Johanssen and left Johanssen F.C before joining 2019 League Champions East End Lions.

He is so far regarded as the most qualified local coach after winning the Sierra Leone Premier League with an unbeaten run.

John who also applied for the top job might be appointed to assist Sellas Tetteh according sources at the Football Association.
