Vice President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, presided over the sod-turning ceremony for the construction of a dedicated facility for the Postgraduate Colleges of Health Specialties at Lakka, in the Western Area Rural District.
The project is part of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party government’s Big Five Gamechanger Human Capital Development agenda, which prioritises investments in education, health, and skills training.
Speaking at the event, VP Juldeh Jalloh said the new facility would mark a major step towards strengthening the country’s healthcare system by expanding access to specialised medical training.
He recalled that the initiative builds on the 2021 inauguration of the Colleges by President Julius Maada Bio, and reaffirmed government’s commitment to linking medical education with improved healthcare delivery.
“This new facility is a demonstration of our government’s commitment to strengthen the healthcare sector,” he said.
The Colleges are expected to boost the number of trained specialists in Sierra Leone and support efforts to improve national capacity for research, innovation, and quality healthcare delivery.
