As a member of the ECOWAS Parliament representing the Republic of Sierra Leone, Hon. Abdul Kargbo had the honor of participating in the Delocalised Meeting of the Joint Committee on Infrastructure, Energy and Mines, and Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources, held in Lomé, Togo.
The meeting was convened under the theme: “Air Transportation as a Means of Integrating the People of West Africa: Strategy for Reducing the Cost of Air Tickets.” It brought together parliamentarians, policymakers, experts, and key stakeholders from across the region to deliberate on concrete measures aimed at making air travel more accessible, affordable, and efficient as a tool for regional integration.
The sessions provided critical insights into the structural and policy challenges affecting the aviation sector in West Africa and offered practical recommendations to enhance connectivity and reduce the high cost of air transport within the ECOWAS region.
His participation reinforced Sierra Leone’s commitment to advancing regional cooperation and contributing meaningfully to the integration agenda of ECOWAS, particularly through strategic sectors like transportation and infrastructure.
