Hon. Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, Energy Sector Lead in Sierra Leone, has touched down in Berlin, Germany, at the kind invitation of the German Foreign Office, to participate in the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD). He is also set to engage with the German Africa Energy conference.
Hon. Yumkella joins APRA Member Countries with host German Government to discuss the design of financial instruments to mobilize capital for the implementation of projects in Session II – “High -Level on Accelerating the Energy Transition and De-risking Investments” Sierra Leone, like most countries in sub-Saharan Africa face a high cost of capital for needed investments and do not offer sovereign guarantees to investors.
As a founding Member of APRA, Sierra Leone will benefit from the German Government’s – Green Guaranty Group programme to de-risk investments. As an active member along with Kenya, Ghana and others, Sierra Leone will actively be involved in shaping the programme as an APRA member country.
