One of the female Honorable Members of Parliament representing Pujehun district, Mariama Munia Zombo has initiated discussions with the authorities of Barrie chiefdom regarding her proposed development plans.
During the engagement, Hon. Zombo revealed the substantial efforts she has exerted to bring about positive changes in Barrie chiefdom.
Emphasising a focus on human capital development as a cornerstone of responsible governance, the esteemed Member of Parliament highlighted her collaboration with the people of Barrie to further the President’s transformative “Big Five” agenda, particularly emphasising the importance of Operation Feed the Nation.
Having engaged with the Ministry of Agriculture, she shared that discussions were held on potential support for Barrie chiefdom and that the Minister committed to assisting the community in cultivating cassava and potatoes.
Highlighting the link between food security and societal well-being, Hon. Munia emphasised the paramount importance of ensuring ample food supply.
Encouraging the locals to wholeheartedly embrace this initiative, she urged the people of Barrie to actively participate in the agricultural efforts.
Collaborating closely with fellow natives of Barrie chiefdom, the Honorable MP promised to establish a community radio station in Potoru Town.
This platform is envisioned as a means to disseminate information, educate and entertain the populace of Barrie and the broader district through curated and informative content.
She continued that an office space for the SLPP will be built with special facilities to help capacitate Young People with Skill Development in the chiefdom.
Revealing further developments, it has been brought to light that the Honorable MP shared news of the approved rehabilitation of the long-neglected road network spanning from Korwoma junction to Fanima Soro by the Sierra Leone Roads Authority.
Additionally, Honorable Munia unveiled 10 brand new solar-powered streetlights in Potoru town. These lights are strategically positioned to alleviate the lack of light for children studying at night.
Reflecting on her tenure, it is worth noting that within a remarkably short period, Honorable Mariama Munia Zombo has successfully secured numerous developmental projects for her constituents, marking a significant journey of progress and transformation.
Hon Zombo was applauded by Regent Chief of the chiefdom, Emmanuel Egujiama Mustapha and other local chiefs for the development projects she successfully undertook within an incredibly short period.
