Submitting the forms to the ACC Commissioner, The chairpersonĀ of HRCSL, Rev. Dr. Usman Jesse Fornah said in as much as his institution was established to protect and promote human rights in the country, they were setting the pace for other institutions to emulate by filling and submitting their asset declaration forms.
He said his institution’s core values encompass professionalism, discipline, competence, dependability, integrity, expertise, team spirit and tactfulness.
Receiving the asset forms, ACC Commissioner, Ady Macauley lauded the initiative of HRCSL and emphasized that most corruption issues have human rights implications. He mentioned rights like the economic, social and cultural rights (ECOSOC) that can be violated if funds meant to provide such services are misappropriated.
The Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone exists to take the lead role in building a culture of human rights (including respect for individual responsibilities) which maintains human dignity for all in Sierra Leone in full compliance with the Constitution, laws, international and regional instruments through effective partnership and collaboration.
