The United States Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Bryan Hunt has visited Falaba district where he held engagements with leaders from both the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), the All Peoples Congress (APC) and different groups, including the Falaba District Council, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
He noted the United States’ support for Sierra Leone’s continued democratisation and the importance of implementing in full both the Agreement for National Unity and the Tripartite Committee’s recommendations on electoral reforms.
The ambassador maintained that the country’s peace and stability is of mutual interest to Americans and Sierra Leoneans, sharing his experiences and observations from his visit, highlighting the challenges and opportunities in Falaba.
In an open and interactive engagement, allowing for meaningful discussions on various development issues in the district, the Ambassador listened to concerns raised by local leaders and community representatives, showing a strong interest in understanding the district’s needs.
As part of his visit, Ambassador Hunt toured several U.S.-funded project sites within the district. These projects focus on education, health, agriculture, and community development. He praised the efforts of those involved in implementing these programs and encouraged continued collaboration between the U.S. government and local stakeholders.
The visit strengthened ties between the U.S. Embassy and the people of Falaba district. Many community members appreciated the ambassador’s presence and his willingness to engage directly with them. His visit brought hope for future support and development in the district.
The Falaba District Council and other stakeholders expressed gratitude for the U.S. government’s continued assistance and called for more support in key areas such as infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
