Indigenes of Makari Chiefdom get scholarship support

Management of Dr. Vincent L. Kanu Estate has continued the legacy of the late Vincent Lamina Kanu. As owner of many investments including Wusum Hotel and others, he was a man who believed to help the needy especially in education.

In other to continue his work on humanity, a trust fund has been named after him. Dr. Vincent Kanu Scholarship Fund is proving education support to less privileged children at Makari Chiefdom, Bombali District – the home of the late philanthropist.

Since the launch of this scholarship scheme, the fund has provided support to 12 students in the chiefdom.

During this year’s scholarship offer, General Manager of Dr. Vincent L. Kanu Esatate – Aruna Bangura said, the scheme is targeting needy children that are passionate for education. He went on to say that, it was the wish of the late Vincent Kanu to help empowering the less privileged especially in education.

Previously, the tune of NLe 1,500 was offered to each of the beneficiaries. This year, he continued, NLe 1,700 was dished out to 12 primary school pupils at Makari Chiefdom.

Mr. Bangura assured beneficiaries that, the scholarship scheme will support them on to tertiary level base on the condition that, students’ performance meets the set criteria of the scholarship fund. He therefore entreated parents to monitor their children so that they would be studios.

Among dignitaries present is Paramount M’kari Nkolow II of Makari Chiefdom. He applauded the effort of management of Dr. Vincent L. Estate to continue the legacy of the late man in education. He therefore promised to monitor progress so that beneficiaries will continue to benefit from this education scheme.

Recipients of this scholarship offer and their parents were thrilled for the support – as according to them, the money being given came at a time when schools are about to reopen. They thanked the trust fund for keeping the enduring the legacy of the late Dr. Vincent L. Kanu going. Each of the 12 beneficiaries pledged to be committed in their studies so that they would continue to be part of the scholarship scheme.
