Sierra Leone’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Retired Major General, David T.O Taluva has informed that he has presented a paper to Cabinet on tackling drug abuse and lawlessness.
He was speaking during the weekly government press briefing hosted by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, at the conference room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Minister Taluva said that his Ministry has a core function of enhancing state security among other things and urged the citizenry to work in conformity with the laws of the land. He said that the devastating effects of the Kush drug cannot be overstated.
‘Today, some of us are ministers. In future, some of these young people should be the ministers and other heads in various MDAs. However, they should be ready, willing and able to face the challenges ahead,’ he stated.
The Minister called on young people to be agents of change in society. He said that the presented cabinet paper will suggest better mechanisms in tackling drug and lawlessness in the country.
Minister Taluva added that all Sierra Leoneans should be concerned about the status of the county’s security, stating that everyone should be responsible for their actions. He admonished all present to do things in line with President Bio’s vision for the country
