Electric transmission and distribution problems have been a cause for concern across the country because of the old system which needs urgent improvement so that citizens can benefit from electricity.

In another development, Alhaji Kanja Sesay disclosed that the problem with one of the transformers in the Kingtom Karaderize Powership Dogan Bey has been rectified and is back to full power.

According to Alhaji Kanja Sesay the Karadeniz Powership Goktay Bey is an addendum to the first contract they have with the company for the Karaderize Powership Dogan Bey which is currently supplying electricity to the western parts of Freetown.

Alhaji Kanja Sesay added that, he went to Turkey some time ago with his engineers to discuss the Karadeniz Powership Goktay Bey Contract, because of the problems they were foreseeing with the first ship.

“The quick solution we came with was the arrival of this second Karadeniz Powership Goktay Bey,” Mr. Sesay said; citing that the ship has a capacity of 36 megawatts and duration of 2 years contract and an option of one year extension.

Mr. Sesay disclosed further that, the arrival of the Karadeniz Powership Goktay Bey is as a result of the serious network challenges they faced, stating that the Karaderize Powership Dogan Bey at Kingtom did not have the required power of serving the entire west and east because of the poor transmission and distribution network
