The pronouncement was made last Friday at the Kenema City Town field by the FA President, Madam Isha Johansen while addressing more than a thousand football stakeholders and members during her first official visit to the township. “Madam Rugie, you are the second lady of football in Sierra Leone and when you shy away from me, I didn’t feel good but thank God you are here to help me take football to another level. It means that together we must raise the game of football for women and Sierra Leone. When women win, we all succeed,” she admonished the KDFA chairperson.
Madam Johansen added that the KDFA Chairperson’s sense of reasoning is the spirit of oneness and family unity her executive wants to see in Sierra Leone football. She said the football family should be one with no barriers no matter what the situation is.
“Let us use football as an instrument to repair and function and not as an instrument to destroy and eliminate,” the FA President admonished.
Speaking earlier, Madam Sesay-Koroma pointed out that they had come out to welcome the FA President to assure her of their strong belief in the spirit of unity which football stands for.
“We are also here to declare our democratic support to your leadership since we believe that it is only when we are united that we can promote football in our country,” she assured.
Madam Sesay-Koroma’s first task as head of women’s football will be to coordinate and organize a female team that will probably take part in a friendly encounter with their Liberian counterpart in Monrovia to mark the celebration of the International Women’s Day in March.
She would also be in charge of the national female league which has been sponsored by FIFA and will commence immediately after the Ebola situation has been put under control and the Public Health Emergency lifted.
