Sierra Leone’s Energy Sector Lead, Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella (KKY), has inspected the district electrification project in Kambia where he thanked contractors for their commitment to duty and sense of responsibility.
He however encouraged the contractors to continue bending over backwards to ensure the timely completion of the project.
It could be recalled that the Government of Sierra Leone, between 2020 and 2021, launched the Seven Districts Electrification Project with the aim to light up the townships of Kailahun, Moyamba, Kabala, Pujehun, Bonthe Island, Mattru Jong and Kambia.
In another development, Dr. Yumkella called at the field office of the company implementing the township electrification project to express his condolences over the tragic loss of life of one of its workers.
He called on the company to take steps to ensure workplace safety and assured that detailed Investigations were being conducted with respected to the unfortunate incident.
With the energy sector and the Feed Salone agenda being inextricably linked, reforms continue in the sector.
