Koidu city commences Saturday Cleaning Exercise to tackle flood

The Koidu New Sembehun City Council conducted its first Saturday cleaning exercise, as part of its ongoing flood mitigation efforts. Mayor Komba Matthew Sam expressed his dedication to keeping the municipality clean and attractive for all residents.

He stressed the importance of effective waste management, environmental sustainability, and community engagement in fostering environmental stewardship.

This city-wide cleaning initiative, led by the mayor and his team, was a key step in addressing flooding and other environmental challenges.

The comprehensive cleanup aimed to mitigate flooding risks and improve the city’s overall hygiene, contributing to a healthier and safer environment for residents.

The exercise was made possible with support from the central government’s Grant for Solid Waste Management, which provided the necessary resources for waste disposal and environmental protection.

Environmental Sanitation Officer (E.S.O.) Ibrahim Bockarie underscored the role of citizens in maintaining cleanliness.

He encouraged residents to take responsibility for their surroundings, emphasizing that their participation is essential in ensuring Koidu remains a clean and vibrant city.”
