He said they would clean up and maintain the Taylor Cummings Garden, just adjacent to the law courts and near the CID building on the way leading to State House on State Avenue, adding that crosses would be planted in remembrance of the gallant soldiers who lost their lives during the first and second world wars.

He also said that every year the Remembrance Day planning committee would organize annual thanksgiving services as part of the celebration, adding that the Board of Trustee, which was reconstituted in May this year with the Chief Justice as chairman and the Mayor as chief patron, had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a voluntary organization called ‘the organization for bringing all Sierra Leonean together’ to upkeep and maintain the garden.

The commissioner observed that the organization’s leader, Bangalie Sesay is equally a member of the Board of Trustee for the Taylor Cummings Garden.

Organizing Secretary for “the organization for bring all Sierra Leonean together”, Lamin Kamara, said they had done the same cleaning exercise before. He said health was one of their main focus areas, adding that because of this, they haddone lot of cleaning exercises in various communities.

Mr.Kamara recalled that education was another focus area of the organization, adding that they had equally been distributing teaching and learning materials in communities like Pepel, Mile 91, and Moyaba district.

He further noted that they had given out financial and material support to the elderly, especially those who swept and cleaned around State House.

A staff of the Freetown City Council told AYV that they were working together with the organization to clean the Taylor Cummings Garden.
