LAJ’s Brothers, 9 Others Jailed 36 Months

The two brothers of Alhaji Amadu Bah aka LAJ, Ishmael Bah and Mohamed S. Bah, and nine other accused persons,  Zunaika Jabbie, Abibatu Sesay, Isatu Cece Kabba, Isatu Kargbo, Bintu Bangura, Ibrahim Bangura, Suliaman Shaw, Samuel Ulaba Samura, Ibrahim Koroma have been sentenced to 36 months (3-year) imprisonment.

They were all found guilty on 2 counts of Riotous Conduct and Disorderly Behaviour and were sentenced eighteen month on each charge to be run consecutively, totalling 36 months. The 12th accused Ibrahim Kabia was however discharged.

It can be recalled that the convicts had gone to the Operation and Supports Department (OSD) Headquarters of the Sierra Leone Police on 15th June, 2022 demanding to see LAJ who was being held in custody.

The judgement was delivered yesterday 27th June, 2022 by Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Court No.2 in Freetown.

Defense Counsel, Lawyer Maddieu Sesay joined by others defense, pleaded on behalf of the 11 convicts to tamper justice with mercy, and not to give custodian sentence but alternative with a minimal fine or even caution and discharged them or bind them over the peace.

Lawyer Sesay further appealed that the 7 and 8 accused (Bintu Bangura and Ibrahim Bangura) are husband and wife with a 6 month old baby.

Responding, State Counsel, Yusuf Isaac Sesay expressed happiness for the ruling, adding that each count carries a fine of two million leones or alternative of 1year 6month.
