Late Victor Onie Williams laid to rest

The late Victor Onie Williams was yesterday laid to rest in Freetown, following a funeral service at the Living Water Ministries International 4B College Road Congo Cross, Methodist Girls High School Drive.

Prior, mourners joined the bereaved family on his vigil at his former residence on Hill street off Wesley Street in Freetown and at a Laying-out ceremony at the New City Hall Fourth Floor Auditorium, Freetown City Council Building on Wallace Johnson street.

In a statement, the family said: “We would like to express our deepest gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of love and support following the tragic loss of Victor Onie Williams. Your kind words, memories, and condolences have brought us comfort during this incredibly difficult time. As we mourn the loss of our beloved Effion as he was known to us, we kindly request that everyone respects our family’s privacy as we grieve and remember our son, grandson, and nephew.

“We are very proud of his accomplishments, both in the world of fashion and entertainment, as well as his time at Fourah Bay College where he was a third year law student. It is clear that he touched many lives during his time with us. We understand that his impact extended far beyond our family, but we kindly request that you are mindful of what you post on social media. Please refrain from spreading false rumours and speculation, and allow us to mourn our loved one peacefully.

“Effion was always loving and respectful, and his absence has left a void in our hearts that will never be filled. He deserves to be mourned with the same dignity and respect that he put out into the world. Though we are devastated by his passing, we find solace in the memories we shared with him and the knowledge that his legacy lives on through the lives he touched. We appreciate your continued support, prayers, and understanding during this challenging time. Effion is dead. We beg of you, now, let him rest in peace. There is a GOD”.

In a condolence message, the Management of the Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire said they offer their deepest condolences to his family, friends and to his fans across the world who loved him.

Victor Onie Williams, otherwise known as “Onie”, was the absolute embodiment of a superstar and a  beloved Housemate reality tv star. He was an incredible, Mr Housemates Salone 2022. Onie leaves an indelible imprint in the lives of many including in the fashion, media and entertainment sector.

Commenting on his passing, Amb Anthony Navo Jr, CEO of the Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire and Executive Producer of the Housemates Salone Reality Tv show, said: “We are saddened to hear about the passing of our beloved Victor Onie Williams. It’s a sad news. Onie was an incredible young man with so much potential. He was an amazing reality TV star, brilliant and was a great young leader for his generation. It was a true privilege for all of us, at AYV to have interacted, worked with Victor Onie Williams on several projects, and shared so many of the special moments during his incredible time in this world. His humility, dedication and passion for good causes inspired a generation and all of us, in the media and entertainment community. We have been profoundly blessed by his leadership, creativity and amazing work. Victor Onie Williams was a humble, respectful and hard working young leader.  He gave much to his family especially his beloved parents, to his passion for fashion, to his vision for positive change, to his local community, friends and to his fans. The entire AYV / Africell Housemates Salone family extends our profound sadness and offer our deepest condolences to his family and to the fans across the world who loved him. We will miss him greatly! Rest In Peace, our beloved Onie.”

Victor Onie Williams was among the twenty contestants for the Housemates Salone #Yagba Season 3 reality TV show, he was crowned Mr Housemates Salone 2022. Victor Onie Williams was a Model and a Fashion Designer, he also owns a fashion brand called Onie’s Elegance. Victor said he chooses fashion because he can relate himself better with fashion and he uses fashion to expresses himself.

Victor noted that, the Fashion Industry in Sierra Leone is an eye opener and a lot of teenagers including young people are starting to take up roles and investing in Fashion. Onie was a dedicated law student who was determined to make a difference in the fields of law, entertainment and nation building.
