He prayed for six orders on his originating notice of motion against the Chairman and Leader of the Sierra Leone People’s Party, Secretary General, Umaru Napoleon Koroma, the party Southern Regional Commissioner and Edward George, who was awarded the party parliamentary symbol for Constituency 097 in Moyamba district in the southern part of Sierra Leone.

Recapitulating the submission of Edward Stile Jengo’s Counsel Lawyer A. Showers, the presiding judge,   Justice Komba Kamanda intimated that A. Showers submitted that Edward Stile Jengo is the rightful winner and was present at the Sierra Leone People’s Party Tuesday 16th January 2018 election for parliamentary symbol in Constituency 097 in Upper Banta region.

Lawyer A. Showers had argued that the Sierra Leone People’s Party is a registered political party, regulated by the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC), adding that his party’s formulated guidelines or rules adopted by the general consensus of the National Executive Council at a meeting held on Tuesday 2nd January 2018, uttered the Sierra Leone People’s Party 1995 Constitution as amended void, coupled with certain alterations also negating the party constitution.

Justice Komba Kamanda further recapitulated that Counsel for the then Plaintiff had submitted that the Sierra Leone People’s Party guidelines were not in compliance with the Political Parties Act of 2002 of the country’s laws, and the non compliance of the party violated his Client democratic right, including the democratic processes of the party, ahead of Saturday March 7 2018 parliamentary and presidential elections.

Counsel for the first, second and fifth defendants namely the National Chairman and Leader of the Sierra Leone People’s Party, Dr. Prince Alex Harding, Secretary General, Umaru Napoleon Koroma and Edward George who won the symbol for Constituency 097, Lawyer A. Y. Brewah had also submitted that his party’s formulated guidelines were in full compliance with the Sierra Leone People’s Party 1995 Constitution as amended, and the Political Parties Act of 2002.

He stated that the defeated Edward Stile Jengo was present at the Tuesday 2nd January 2018 meeting of the National Executive Counsel of the party and was fully involved in the formulation and endorsement of the said rules or guidelines without reservation from any member.

“Edward Stile Jengo instituted an action against the Sierra Leone People’s Party senior cadres, because he lost the parliamentary symbol to his co- aspirant in the person of Edward George,’ Lawyer Brewah stated.

Furthermore, Counsel for the third defendants, National Electoral Commission, Berlyn Cummings also submitted that the court should struck out the orders prayed for on the Edward Stile Jengo’s originating notice of motion, as it’s a waste of time and money.

She opined that the court should be reluctant in granting the orders prayed for by the Plaintiff, and that the court should not prevent the then Defendants from performing their public functions or duties.

Justice Kamanda noted that he had listened and thoroughly perused the submissions of Counsels in the action, and that the court has sufficient evidence to substantiate that indeed the then Plaintiff, Edward Stile Jengo was present at the party’s Tuesday 2nd January 2018 National Executive Council meeting, where the said rules or guidelines were adopted and unanimously endorsed.

He vacated all of the six orders the then Plaintiff had prayed for in his originating notice of motion and affidavits in support of his claims.
