Officially launching the Housemates Salone Season 4 Reality TV Show at the Chapter One Night Club & Restaurant past Friday, First Lady of Sierra Leone, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, made a clarion call for a clean and decent reality television shows in the country.
Officially launching the Show as Distinguished Guest of Honour, alongside the Her Worship the Mayor of Freetown, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio said, “Let us clean the game on reality TV shows in this country, today, we will not only launch a clean and decent Housemates Salone Show, we will further ensure that we promote the Show and strongly be part of it till the end”.
The first lady praised AYV’s CEO Amb. Anthony Navo Jr., and Africell’s CEO Mr. Shadi Gerjawi for haven worked tirelessly to ensure Sierra Leone is promoted globally. “You two have been phenomenal contributors to Sierra Leone’s development. If Hands Off Our Girls could succeed today, it was because of your supports”, she stated, while calling on the young people who will be entering the House to use the opportunity to showcase their talent to the world and transform themselves.
She further praised AYV and Africell for thinking of competing with Big Brother Naija in this Season of the Show, referring to the move as a good one for Sierra Leone on the global entertainment stage.
The AYV and Africell on Friday, July 18, 2025, officially launched Housemate Salone Season Four (4).
The event, which took place at the prestigious Chapter One Night Club & Restaurant on Lumley Beach Road in Freetown, brought together high personalities in society, including the First Lady of Sierra Leone, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Minister of Information and Communications, Chernor Bah, Ministry of Youth Affairs, CEO of AYV, Amb. Anthony Navo Jr., CEO of Africell, Shadi Gerjawi, heads and staff of Ministries, Departments and Agencies and former housemates, among others.
Speaking during the official launch, a representative of the Minister of Tourism, Nabeela Farida Tunis, underscored the significance of the Housemates Salone, saying it would help rebrand Sierra Leone to tourists and also attract international attention.
According to her, Housemates Salone, being one of the leading major events in Sierra Leone, the tourism sector will be rekindled. She said the show will be remarkable and give society a new expression of life.
Executive Co-Producer of Housemates Salone, Shadi Gerjawi, allayed the fears of the people, maintaining that the required health precautionary measures for MPox will be observed as the event will be streamed live.
He said the show would also help people stay at home and watch the show that will be on 24 hours. According to him, all participants will be in the house with no contact with the outside world.
Executive Co-Producer of Housemates Salone, Ambassador Anthony Navo Jr., said the theme for this year, ‘Clean Game’, indicates the organisers’ preparedness to rebrand and cleanreality TV shows in Sierra Leone from corruption, ‘mammy cuss’, and nudity, among other rude acts that are taking over the Show lately.
He said AYV and Africell aim at empowering young people and showcasing them to the outside world. Both Navo and Shadi emphasised the need for a thorough cleaning of the game of reality TV shows, which have been badly contaminated with nudity and indecency in this country.
“The game don dorti. We need to clean the game and not allow people to contaminate it for us as it is becoming lately.” Shadi and Navo declared in their speeches at the event.
Minister of Information and Communications, Chernor Bah, reiterated that Housemates Salone show is in line with President Bio’s vision for young people to actualise their talents locally and internationally.
He congratulated the organisers and informed them that the president and his wife were very adoring about entertainment in the country.
