In his Keynote Address Paramount Chief Bai Shebora Sheba Gbereh 111 reiterates the importance of self esteem as it affects the behavior and thoughts of women. He stressed that women must change how they feel about themselves and value each other in taking their rightful role in nation building.
P.C Bai Shebora Sheba Gbereh 111 noted that no nation will succeed without the input of women as they play a pivotal role in shaping any nation and called on them to have self-confidence and take responsibility of their future backed with quality education so that the chiefdom will thrive. He assured them of his unflinching support in observing this day yearly in the chiefdom and urged them to continue support themselves.
P.C Bai Shebora Sheba Gbereh 111 commended the Chiefdom Mammy Queen Memunatu M.F. Kamara for her initiative to start observing the International Women’s Day in Kaffu Bullom. He congratulated all the women for coming out in numbers to support the initiative as this will help to motivate them to aspire for higher position in nation building.
In her remarks the Chiefdom Mammy Queen Memunatu M F Kamara encouraged the women to value themselves as they possess all the attributes to contribute in nation building as they are unique. She stressed that one cannot value and respect others unless they first value and respect themselves.
Mrs. Kamara said that self esteem can make the difference between success and failure as it can affect one thinking, causing her outlook to be positive or negative. She stressed that with self esteem it will enable one to have the right attitude to succeed in whatever development carrier she found herself.
Mrs. Kamara urged them to put aside petty jealousy and support each other to climb the ladder so that they can boost of having a female president. She commended President Koroma for working towards female representation and appeal to him for their 30% quota.
In his contribution the local unit commander of Lungi Division Chief Superintendent Jorwulor R. Gbonnoh stressed the importance of women’s equal and full participation as active agents in the prevention and resolution of conflicts, peace-building and peacekeeping in the nation. He called on them to fully involve in all efforts for the maintenance and promotion of peace and security not only in the Kaffu Bullom but the country as a whole.
Other speakers at the occasion urged the women to strive for more education so that they will reach at the top in their respective professions. They include Lt. Zainab Kamara from the republic of Sierra Armed Forces 15th Battalion, Local Unit Commander Abioseh Hye, Madam Fatmata Mansaray and Rev. Zaray Bangura.
