A Magistrate Court in Sierra Leone conducts the incineration of approximately 400 kilograms of illegal substances, as part of moves to combat drug-related offenses and promote public safety.

Head of Registry at the Kenema High Court, Sheku Kemoh Mansaray confirms that the illicit drugs, specifically Marijuana and Kush, were seized by police officers from various checkpoints and locations throughout Kenema.

The substances were subjected to court proceedings overseen by Magistrate Brima Jah, which resulted in appropriate penalties for the offenders involved.

The incineration was carried out under strict supervision, with law enforcement officials, court representatives, media members, the Bike Riders Union (BRU), and other stakeholders in attendance to ensure transparency in the process.

Inspector Alphan S. Musa, Acting Head of the Legal and Justice Department for the Kenema Division, stated that this event represents a crucial step in the judicial system’s ongoing battle against drugs within the community.

He expressed gratitude to Magistrate Brima Jah for his role in the proceedings and underscored the significance of the incineration as more than just the destruction of substances; it serves as a powerful warning to offenders that the legal system is resolute in its commitment to uphold the law and safeguard the public.
