“As usual, we come here every year to see what we can do for your school because this school is very important to the people of this country. We appreciate the effort of the staff as they are working relentlessly to make sure that these kids gain education”.
“We once heard that there is no sponsorship for this school and there is no source of income. That was one of the major reasons we decided to help these blind kids so that they will have a brighter future”.
“On behalf of Mercury International, I present a cheque for Le 20m for the wellbeing of the school. We hope this money will be used for the intended purpose,” Chairman Samir stated.
Receiving the cheque, the acting principal said the donation was timely because there is nothing left in our subvention to support the children, adding, “This is the only week I think we might at least cope helping these children to survive. Otherwise we should have asked government to close the school because there is no money.”
He said the children are going through numerous constraints, which are not good for their situation.
Mr Kamara mentioned that the vehicle taking them to school is not functioning at the moment and he will use part of the money to repair the vehicle.
He also said that they eat a bag of rice for two days and with this money they will purchase enough rice which will last for very long period and other items that will make the term very exciting and easy for the children.
It was at this point Chairman Samir Hassanyeh stepped in again and vowed to donate 50 bags of rice to the school.
Speaking on behalf of the pupils, the head boy thanked Mercury International for their continued support to the school.
He said they received the gesture with happiness. “Without Mercury we don’t know how we would have coped with this situation. But now that you’ve donated this money to us we appreciate it so much and I pray that God will continue to flourish your business,“ he said.
