Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah has responded to a question on the Whereabout of convicted drug lord Jos Leijdekkers who was identify as Omar Sheriff.
Bah made the clarification while speaking on Radio Democracy Good Morning Salone program as the information Minister speaking on different issues.
“Is Omar Sheriff still in Freetown,” the presenter asked, Bah first respond was “maybe you will tell me if he was in Sierra Leone or not”.
The reported rephrased his question making reference to the Ministry of information and the Sierra Leone Police statement identify the person in the viral video as Omar Sheriff.
According to Bah, after investigation proved that the individual was Omar Sheriff, there was no determination at the time adding that the Inspector General of Police went to known addresses of the individual at the time but couldn’t find anybody.
Earlier Bah confirmed that the Attorney General of Sierra Leone and the Netherlands Justice Minister had a meeting where they shared documents and Sierra Leone is currently studying the document to make a determination weather it meet the threshold and Sierra Leone legal process.
He said the extradition laws of Sierra Leone are very clear on the process to follow, stating that he trust the Attorney General and he will follow the process.
