Opal Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand was crowned Miss World on Saturday in India, where the international pageant was held this year.

Miss Sierra Leone, Lachaeveh A.K. Davies did not just show up — she shined. Miss Sierra Leone graced the Miss World stage with elegance, pride, and purpose during the Opening Ceremony. A powerful first impression from a queen representing her nation with heart and poise.

For the first time ever, Sierra Leone emerged as a finalist at the Miss World Beauty with a Purpose project.

Lachaeveh made history by becoming the first Sierra Leonean to reach the Top 8 finalists using the Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire-produced video for Miss Sierra Leone Beauty With A Purpose.

Lachaeveh Alberta Caizarine Davies said, “For the first time ever, Sierra Leone has emerged as a finalist at the Miss World Beauty with a Purpose project! We made it to the Top 8 — and this is not just a win for me, but a win for my country! We made history”.

Her Beauty With a Purpose project, called the “Dynamo Project,” focuses on helping farmers through sustainable farming methods. This work earned her a place among the top finalists.

This achievement is a proud moment for Lachaeveh personally and for Sierra Leone on the international stage. Earlier in the competition, Lachaeveh did not advance in the Head-to-Head Challenge, a preliminary round focused on public speaking and advocacy. This achievement brings pride to Sierra Leone and highlights the country’s growing presence in international pageants.

She is also a climate change advocate, writer, and model. Before winning the national crown, she held titles such as Miss University of Makeni and Miss Freetown 2024.

Chuangsri topped a field of 108 contestants in the contest held in India’s southern Hyderabad city. Hasset Dereje Admassu of Ethiopia was the first runner-up in the competition. Chuangsri received her crown from last year’s winner Krystyna Pyszková.

The 72nd Miss World beauty pageant was hosted by Miss World 2016 Stephanie del Valle and Indian presenter Sachiin Kumbhar. India hosted the beauty competition last year as well. India’s Nandini Gupta exited after making it to the final 20.

Six Indian women have won the title, including Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000) and Manushi Chillar (2017).
