George Moore’s ‘My Experience as a Leader’ book was launched last Friday 15th July 2022 at Atlantic Lumley Hotel in Freetown and was witnessed by all sector of society.
Officially launching the Book, one of Sierra Leone’s finest writers, Amb Raymond De Souza George popularly known as Paparay, congratulated George Moore for such venture at his aged. He said when one talks about courage, one needs it and one also needs the grace of God which covers all things.
“When you publish you do it with a passion that cannot be killed. My first publication I called it “words of war”.”
He went on to say grace is the primary thing one needs to be a leader, “I thank you for this book because I am sure it would be instructive to the highest and least in leadership unless we find it impossible to be humble because if we humble enough we find out that there is lot of wisdom in this.”
My experience as a leader is the account of a series of lessons that the author has learnt throughout his career as a leader. Starting from these same teachings lived in first person as leader in various areas, such as schools and local ecclesiastical associations; George Moore leads us to a series of reflections on the meaning and value of the concept of leadership itself.
He describes his role as a leader as a gift and the work done as guided directly by the scriptures. Each chapter analyzes a different thematic node and concludes with a teaching about the value and importance of carrying out a task with wisdom and humility.
George Mooreis a servant of God, teacher of the Word, and passionate about encouraging others in the faith and inspiring them to live their purpose and dreams in life.
He has mostly been in leadership positions from his teen to now. And he has always been a reference as exemplary leader in the various positions he has served, respected among his family and peers for character and self-discipline.
He has served as the Youth Leader of his local church for about five years and is currently serving as the Board Chairman for the Youth Ministry of his church nation-wide.
He is a professional accountant and currently a Finance Manager for the institution he is working for. He has been in management position for four out of the six years he has been working since he graduated from the University.
He is happily married and has a beautiful baby girl who is the joy at home. George is passionate about serving God, fulfilling purpose and inspiring others to live their purpose. He is also passionate about leadership and the transformation of his country into a developed world.
Keynote speaker, Sybil Bailor spoke about the importance of one instinct which she said is their most powerful drive as human beings.
She went on to say as a leader, one needs to trust their instinct, relied on it and base their value judgement on it.
“George Moore took upon himself to work on his instinct, to work on some things. Being confidence and courageous is recognising who you are and your potential. Worry about rejection. You have to give yourself the best short as somebody.”
She encouraged her audience to make sure that they do the right things by trusting their instinct.
She emphasised that the ability to learn is the second nature be it good and bad experiences.
She described the book as a gem as it tells one all they should be as a leader.
Grand Chief Launcher, David Carew said they are celebrating with George to launch the book. He described his work as remarkable one. He asked George to auto graph a copy of all presents.
