It could be recalled that following the conclusion of the Bintumani 3 Conference aimed at fostering peace and national cohesion, a communiqué was drafted but its contents were not discussed thoroughly for the average person to understand its contents and therefore, many people were unaware about what it was about, especially those living in the rural areas.

During the engagement, Mohamed Dumbuya who represented the Minister of Political and Public Affairs said the Bintumani 3 National Consultative Conference provided Sierra Leoneans another opportunity to see the importance of dialogue as a better way to discuss issues of national concern in the spirit of promoting sustainable peace and development, rather than taking up arms or engaging in other violent methods.

Hajie Bah who is the National Coordinator for Network Movement for Youth and Children’s Welfare said the dialogue is a platform that would give people the insight on what was discussed during the Bintumani 3 Conference so as to help communities make informed choices when voting for their leaders. He stressed that after the Bintumani 3 Conference, everything that was discussed during the national peace cohesion was not brought to the general public and many people do not know what is contained in the final document.

“Sierra Leoneans should be able to know about the outcome of the Bintumani 3 Conference which aimed to foster peace and national cohesion in the country,” he noted, adding that it is their business to popularize the communiqué and inform the general public about what it says and what is expected from it and what is expected from the general public.

Many stakeholders applauded the initiative of the Movement, saying they think that such an engagement is timely and would help broaden their horizon in government activities.
